Le Bonheur wines triumph at International Wine & Spirit Competition

Le Bonheur wine estate was singled out once again for the exceptional quality and refinement in its wines, emerging as one of the star performers among this year’s winners at the authoritative International Wine & Spirit Competition. The event showcases the world’s best producers and the winning wines were announced this week.

The Stellenbosch farm received a gold medal for Le Bonheur Prima 2009, which the experienced judging panel described as having a “rich, well layered mouth with great structure and soft, pliable tannins”. It concluded that the wine would be “delicious now and continue to develop”.

Le Bonheur also received Silver Outstanding awards for its Le Bonheur Tricorne 2009 and Le Bonheur Sauvignon Blanc 2013.

The 163-hectare wine estate is situated on the slopes of Klapmuts Hill in the northern region of Stellenbosch and dates back to 1790. Grapes are handpicked and sorted to select only the best fruit.

This attention to detail and accompanying environmental sensitivity is a thread that runs throughout the estate’s operations. The result is a portfolio of elegant and balanced wines reflective of their terroir and consistently awarded at local and international wine shows.

The IWSC was founded in 1969 to promote the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs. Judging is undertaken by a panel of experts and blind tasting and laboratory analysis.

The award winning South African, Chilean and Argentine wines in the competition were announced on September 10, on the first day of the Beautiful South Tasting at Olympia Central in London. A banquet to showcase the best wines will take place in London later this year too.

Le Bonheur wine estate is situated in Klapmuts, off the R44 between Paarl and Stellenbosch. Its wines are available from leading retailers nationwide. For more information, call 082 383 0524 or visit www.lebonheur.co.za.
