One&Only Cape Town’s Nobu sets trend for young gourmets

One&Only Cape Town’s Nobu has launched a world first for the international restaurant brand by introducing NOBU KidsOnly gourmet platters. In recognition of the fact that more and more people are travelling with their children, and that children are being exposed to more and better quality food all the time, the team at Nobu Cape Town have come up with some delectable eats for younger diners.

Little palates are in for a treat, with a choice of fish or vegetarian platters with six pieces of tasty bites on each. The rice and sweet inari based bites are designed with seasonal ingredients, finely chopped and the focus is on the natural and inherent sweet flavours in certain foods. Dips, baby sushi and clever mini pizza and burger designs on the platters encourage little people to hold and experience the food, practise with chopsticks and generally have lots of fun over dinner – making it a truly interactive experience. Children are introduced to new tastes and textures, and the presentation is bright and bold, with the addition of colourful hand-friendly training chopsticks too.

KidsOnly Nobu platters are certain to wow little palates, especially as infants are born with around 30 000 tastebuds throughout their mouths. By adulthood, only about a third remain on the tongue. So everything little ones eat is amplified in flavour: zesty, zingy, sour and sweet. The use of salty and sour flavours in the Kids Nobu platters has been avoided, so kids can focus on natural flavours in the ingredients, and combined with fun new foodie discoveries and great textures, these are sure to be a hit.

This unique offering from Nobu Cape Town is sure to set a trend for other Nobu restaurants around the world. And while the food is easily accessible, it still retains the characteristic elements of artistry and innovation with top quality ingredients that Nobu is so famous for.

Parents, whether locals or holidaymakers, will also be happy to know that Nobu Cape Town will be open from 6pm in the evenings, so that family dinners can be enjoyed together. Now the only thing the kids will have to do is stop parents from stealing bites off their Nobu KidsOnly platters!

KidsOnly Nobu gourmet platters are priced at R145 for vegetarian and R245 for fish, and contain six pieces each.
